Annual Pension Statement

Reviewing your Annual Pension Statement

Members of the SFU Administrative/Union Staff Pension Plan should received their Annual Pension Statement to their home address in June. The Pension Plan is an extremely valuable part of your employee benefits, becoming increasingly valuable as your service with SFU increases. Even if you leave SFU before retirement, you are entitled to the pension benefit that you earned. Therefore, it is important to review the personal information recorded as it has a direct impact on earned pension.

Please review your Pension statement for the following:

Personal Data:

  • Date of Birth
  • Spouse  (if applicable)
  • Spouse’s Date of Birth (if applicable)
  • Beneficiaries

Pension Data:

  • Pension Service Date (the date you became eligible for pension plan membership)
  • Credited Service (your years of pension plan membership, reduced if you had periods of unpaid leave or part-time employment)
  • Best Average Salary (your highest continuous five years of earnings to end of 2020)

If you notice any discrepancies in your personal data, or if you have any questions or concerns, contact Pensions & Benefits staff at pensions@sfu.ca
