The Herring School Blog
Bringing Together Culture, Ecology, and Governance to Support Sustainability on BC's Central Coast
We are researchers from the Simon Fraser University interested in understanding the relationships between herring, nearshore ecosystems and the coastal communities that depend on them. In partnership with the Heiltsuk Integrated Resource Management Department (HIRMD) and the Gladstone Reconciliation team, our field team conducted several studies in and around Bella Bella during the spring of 2011 to begin to understand the social and ecological causes and consequences of herring declines.
We are currently in the process of transferring our past blog entries to the Hakai Network website. However, if you wish to read our blog documenting the 2011 field season, please visit: http://herringschool.wordpress.com
