This project began as a a collaboration between researchers from SFU and the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows School District in Fall 2008. The Maple Ridge "environmental school" opened in September 2011 with no building; the 88 students (K-7) pursue learning in local parks, the town library, and other public spaces. In 2013 the research team expanded its collaboration to Davis Bay Elementary School in the Sunshine Coast School District; the Nature Primary Program (K-3) opened in September 2013.
