2022 MEXT Research Student Scholarship

APPLICATION DEADLINE: May 12, 2021

Research Student Scholarship for students who wish to study at Japanese universities as research or post-graduate students.

The scholarship covers:
1. Full tuition
2. Monthly allowance
3. Round-trip flight between Japan and Canada

The Research Student Scholarship is aimed at university graduates, born on or after April 2, 1987 (for the 2022 scholarship year). The area of research or post-grad study should be in the same or related field that the applicant has previously studied.

Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED)

APPLICATION DEADLINE: February 22, 2021

  • CAD 10,200 for graduate students (Master's and PhD) for a minimum of four months or one academic term of study or research;
  • CAD 12,700 for graduate students (Master's and PhD) for a period of five to six months of study or research

MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAM AWARD: NATIONAL TSING HUA UNIVERSITY AWARD IN AUSTRONESIAN STUDIES

Co-sponsored by the Fulbright Commission in Taiwan and National Tsing Hua University

Awards are available to pursue a full-time Master’s degree in Austronesian Studies at the Institute of Anthropology, National Tsing Hua University (NTHU). The program is taught in English.

The grant provides recipients with full tuition support, student dormitory, round trip airfare, a monthly living allowance, and national health insurance as long as the candidate maintains satisfactory academic standards.

Grants begin in September, 2021. The Grant is initially awarded for 12 months, and renewal for the second year is dependent upon the grantee’s academic success with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (B) on a 4.0 scale. Candidate must have received a Bachelor's degree prior to enrolment and intend to pursue a two-year Master's degree. Accepted degree levels include Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral. Candidates must be accepted by both the Fulbright Commission in Taiwan and the university program.

Ineligibility

Candidates currently residing in Taiwan (or those who will be living there during the 2020-2021 academic year) will not be considered.

Individuals with dual U.S.-Taiwan citizenship or permanent residency are not eligible.

MEXT 2021 RESEARCH STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of the Government of Japan is currently accepting applications for the 2021 Research Student Scholarship for students who wish to study at Japanese universities as research or post-graduate students.

The Research Student Scholarship is aimed at university graduates, born on or after April 2, 1986 (for the 2021 scholarship year). The area of research or post-grad study should be in the same or related field that the applicant has previously studied.  Due to COVID-19, the term of the scholarship is only available for 18 months starting October 2021.
