Muslim Perspectives on Climate Change and Ecology
During the month of Ramadan, the CCMS and Open City events offers members of the Muslim community the opportunity to connect online.
About this event
SFU's Centre for Comparative Muslim Studies and Open City Events offer members of the Muslim community the opportunity to connect with one another over shared interests during the month of Ramadan.
Climate change, more specifically global warming, is now widely recognized as a threatening global catastrophe, and yet far too little has changed in terms of anthropocentric behaviours. Connecting online, we will reflect on the following questions. Is there a Muslim ecological worldview? What can it bring to these conversations? Can it be tied to decolonization and anti-racism? If so, how can Indigenous and Muslim thinkers and activists find solidarities in climate justice work?
