Join us for the first session of Staying Current in 2020! We will be joined by guests of diverse backgrounds, including students, professionals, and activists. The format of this session is set to be an informal and intimate discussion with our audience.

About the session:

"On August 5th, after emptying the Valley of all non-Kashmiris under a pretence of a false security threat, India unilaterally announced a move to scrap Article 370 of the Indian Constitution by passing the Jammu and Kashmir State Reorganization Act in the Indian parliament. This article guaranteed an autonomous status to the region of Jammu and Kashmir and prevented any non-Kashmiris from settling in Kashmir. India also bifurcated the territory into Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir as separate regions. The region of Jammu & Kashmir, as you are aware, is an internationally recognized disputed territory under UN resolutions 39 & 47. The current illegal and unilateral move on India’s part is aimed at changing the demographics of the region to meet the ultra-nationalist, majoritarian agenda of the right-wing BJP government."
