FIRST PEOPLES' GATHERING HOUSE MONTHLY UPDATE
January 18, 2022
DESIGN UPDATE
A recent cost estimate update was prepared based on the latest design of the new building. Unstable market conditions and supply chain issues are impacting construction costs. The project team is assessing the situation and evaluating options to stay resilient given the circumstances.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Demolition of the Strand Hall Annex temporary structure is almost complete in preparation for the new First Peoples’ Gathering House. To demonstrate sustainable construction practice, approximately 10,000 pounds of lumber are being carefully removed from the site, cleared of all nails and graded for re-use. Remaining demolition wastes are being separated into different streams with the goal to divert materials from the landfill.
COMMITTEE UPDATE
The Steering Committee will be meeting in early 2022 to discuss costing and schedule updates on the project.
