Located on the top of Burnaby Mountain in Burnaby British Columbia, Simon Fraser University offers guests close proximity to the events of Surface Canada 2011, as well as to outdoor activities and cultural events offered in the Greater Vancouver Area.

Reservations for staying at SFU are open until April 28, 2011. Requests for accommodations after April 28, 2011 should be directed to SFU Accommodations at confacom@sfu.ca, who will assist you with your housing needs. These on campus accommodations are dormitory style housing. A special rate of $40.60 + taxes per night has been obtained for a block of rooms for the Surface Canada 2011 attendees. This rate includes breakfast for the following morning. Please book your reservation through the following web-site. Executive Plaza Hotel |
Hotel reservations can also be made through the Executive Plaza Hotel located 8km from SFU at 405 North Road in Coquitlam, BC. Rates and booking information can be found here. Further information regarding the Executive Plaza Hotel can be found on their web-site . They also have a shuttle that can bring you to SFU and Surface Canada 2011, but you will need to make these arrangement through the Hotel.
Many locations at or near SFU provide stunning views of the North Shore Mountains that overlook the Greater Vancouver Area. These view points include the Reflecting Pond on the SFU campus. SFU is also located in close proximity to the Trans Canada Trail, which provides easy access to Burnaby Mountain Park and Horizon’s Restaurant with views of Downtown Vancouver, the Burrard Inlet and the steep sided glacial fjords surrounding Indian Arm. The surrounding parkland contains over 400 acres of land with hiking and mountain biking trails. Online maps are available for the hiking trails around SFU.
Amenities available to you through the SFU Recreation Office include the Margaret and Paul Savage Swimming Pool, gymnasiums, racquet courts, fitness centres, indoor and outdoor running tracks, and more
Most of your meals on May 14th – May 16th will be included in the price of your registration. There are, however, many options for food available at SFU or within a short walking distance. There are a number of dining halls available, including one in close proximity to the Residence Halls. Nearby to SFU is a relatively new community, UniverCity , which offers access to coffee shops, a variety of restaurants, a grocery store, and other amenities.
